What We Do
Citizens Advice Cheadle provides free, confidential and impartial advice for the many different problems faced by people living across the Cheadle area. Our aim is to enable people so that they can deal with their current issues and prevent crisis in the future.
As a registered charity, we rely on grants, donations and fundraising events to fund the work we do.
In the main, our service is delivered by volunteers. These volunteers are highly trained and the advice we give is audited by national Citizens Advice, to whom we pay a membership.
We are qualified to give advice on many subjects including:
When giving advice, we sometimes find that the problem is caused by unfair policy or practice. If this is the case, we collect evidence of similar problems, produce research reports and campaign to have policies and practices changed. This has an impact not only on the people who come to us but on the wider community, locally and nationally.
We deliver the Energy Best Deal (EBD) public awareness and information programme, helping domestic energy customers to shop around, reduce their energy bills and get help if they are falling behind.
In addition, as a registered UK Online Centre, we offer help with basic IT skills.
